About us
By founding the waff (Wiener ArbeitnehmerInnen Förderungsfonds – Vienna Employment Promotion Fund) at the initiative of the workers’ representations of interest in Vienna in 1995, the government of the Land of Vienna was the first in Austria to create a special institution for active labour market policy and for the implementation of related measures and programmes.
For the waff, cooperation of all important institutions in the fields of labour market and economic policies is a key requirement for more job opportunities and an attractive business location. This is an important reason why the social partners of Vienna play a crucial role in the executive bodies of the waff. With this in mind, the organisations represented on the Board and the employees working for the waff consider themselves as partners in shaping labour-market policy in Vienna – partners with different tasks but the same goal:
“More opportunities for Vienna’s workers – we support them!”
This is what we stand for:
- better vocational development opportunities for Vienna’s workers
- removal of existing discrimination on the labour market and action against the risk of marginalisation in the employment system
- promotion of equal opportunities for women and men on the labour market
- further improvement of Vienna’s attractiveness as a business location
The waff is part of the purview of the Executive City Councillor of Finance and Economic Affairs. Its activities are primarily funded by the Municipality of Vienna.
